Karate women are admired and honored for their accomplishments in different aspects of martial arts, such as reaching the black belt level, winning national or international medals, refereeing matches, or coaching others. Karate women challenge femininity stereotypes by performing martial arts with skill, power, grace, and confidence. They are not violent or dangerous, but rather disciplined and respectful of themselves and their opponents.

Below are 5 women in Karate that you should know more about if you don’t already.

Chloe Maclean:

She is a sociology PhD student at the University of Edinburgh and competes in karate internationally. Some of her achievements include Commonwealth, British and Scottish champion, alongside multiple medals from across the world.

Sakura Kokumai:

She is an eight-time USA National Champion and a six-time Pan American Champion. She represented Team USA in the 2021 Tokyo Olympics.

Michelle Yeoh, Ronda Rousey, and Zhang Ziyi:

These martial arts stars have made significant contributions to their respective fields.

These women have not only excelled in the sport but also contributed to its development as referees, coaches, and advocates for women in karate.
